“Block it” is the only surface treatment available on the market that prevents surface etching and staining without affecting the appearance of natural stone.

Marble and natural stone products are often used in hospitality and contract settings due to their high durability and organic aesthetic, however, there can be issues that arise once the products are in use:

Etching

This is normally seen as a ring in the surface of the stone, where the polish has matted slightly. This is caused by acidic products such as wines, citrus juices, colas, lemonades, vinegars and vinegar-based sauces which react with the calcium in the stone, corroding away the top surface. 

This is a particular problem that occurs with darker stones, as the surface rings appear much lighter in colour than the dominant background colour.

Staining

More noticeable on lighter marbles, this is when red wine or coffee absorb down in to the stone, and cannot be cleaned off. The composition of marble is quite porous, and so is susceptible to staining.

With the increase in use of exotic marbles and the popularity of darker colours, this surface treatment offers an enhanced performance of natural stone products, giving trouble free use and peace of mind for specifiers and suppliers alike.

This has been tested to BS EN 1270, 127221 and 12722 and passes the relevant requirements to FS 6250:2018 Finish Performance Horizontal Surfaces – High Performance.
